In Loving Memory
August 18, 1918 – April 26, 2017
Rev. John Henry Davis was born on August 19, 1918 to the late Mary and James Davis in Flatwood, Alabama in Wilcox County. He was a dedicated member of the Lutheran Church until his health failed. He was a retired pastor, teacher, and farmer. John was a life long member of NAACP and NEA, a member of six national organizations and of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Camden, AL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a host of sisters and brothers.
John leaves to cherish his memories, the mother of his children, Nancy Davis; six daughters, Teresa McNeal Whitfield (the late Rev. A. L. Whitfield) of Robertsdale, AL, Helen Davis of Montgomery, AL, Juanita (Roy) Pettway of Mobile, AL, John (Moses) Ngirailab of Selma, AL, Colleen (Sam) Creige of Selma, AL and Aleisa (Johnell) Travis of Montgomery, AL; five sons, Donald (Gloria) Outland of Madison, AL, Ernest (Jeneice) Mostella of Ashville, AL, Paul James Davis of Camden, AL, Thomas Davis of Camden, AL and Michael (Marvetta) Davis of Madison, AL; 32 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild, a host of nieces and nephews and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2668 Berkley Ave., Mobile, AL, 36617. The family will receive friends at 9:00am. Interment will be held at 3:30pm on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 9976 Highway 5, Arlington, AL, 36722. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com.
