In Loving Memory
April 29, 1933 – May 1, 2017
Robert Theodore Anderton, age 84, of Daphne died peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 1, 2017. Mr. Anderton was born in Garden City, AL and was a longtime Baldwin County resident. He was a Korean Conflict Army veteran after which he played 10 years of AAA Baseball in the Pirates Farm League, retiring as a pitcher from the Portland, Oregon Beavers. After completing college, his desire was to be a coach. Bob coached basketball and taught math and science before embarking on a 32 year career with ALFA (Farm Bureau) Insurance as an adjuster. He was an avid golfer and loved fishing and was a beloved husband and father and friend to his wife and children and will be greatly missed.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Pearl Anderton, a brother, Frederick Anderton, and by his first wife, LaRoyce Anderton. Survivors include his wife of 30 years, Jane Maiden Anderton of Daphne; daughters, Marcy Anderton of Mobile, Paula (Clint) Bonner of Silverhill and Jennifer Harris of Loxley; son, Brian “Bo” (Frances) Anderton of Phoenix, AZ., a sister, Violet Royals of Waynesboro, MS; brother, Charles (Nina) Anderton of Commerce Township, MI and three grandchildren, Hunter and Chelsea Bonner and Kayla Harris and other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service to honor Bob will be at 12:30pm, Friday, May 5, 2017 at the Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church with Rev. Ross Reddick officiating. The family will receive friends at the church at 11:30am. Inurnment with military honors will be at 3:30pm at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Bob’s name to the church. Expressions of condolence for the family may be made at www.hughesfh.com.
