Joseph Earnest Klingensmith, 64, born in Ford City, PA longtime resident of Daphne, AL, died unexpectedly on January 23, 2017.

He was born on December 30, 1952, the son of a father in the military, growing up all around the world and spent over 30 years living in the San Francisco Bay area. He attended the United States Naval Academy and the University of California at Berkeley.  Joe spent time the early part of his career working for high tech “start up” companies like Pyramid Technologies and Sun Microsystems in Silicon Valley. His work at Sun Microsystems took him to Loveland, Colorodo.  He moved with his wife Mary to Alabama in 2002 and worked for World Sporting Goods in Loxley.   In recent years, he was employed as an insurance adjuster for Pilot Catastrophies and also worked as a handy man and helped many people with home repairs and upgrades.
Joe was loved by many for his ability to talk to anyone and willingness to pray for anyone that was sick or in need.  Singing and praising God in church was one of his favorite things to do. He and his wife hosted a small bible study group in their home for over 10 years.  He is preceded in death by his father, Giarth Klingensmith.

He is survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Mary Forrest-Klingensmith; children, Susan Klingensmith of Worcester, Massachusetts, Helene (David) Hendrickson of Mason, Michigan and two grandchildren, Max and Jack. He is further survived by his Mother, Adriana Klingensmith, his sister, Renee (Alan) Dils, niece, Christina (Jimmy) Shores, and many  other friends and relatives.

The family will receive friends at 12:00pm followed by a Celebration of Joe’s life at 1:00 pm at Providence United Methodist Church, 32200 Jimmy Faulkner Drive, Spanish Fort, AL 36527 on Friday, January 27, 2017.
