In Loving Memory
April 3, 1942 – February 8, 2017
Darryl “J.D.” Prejean, 74, born in Baton Rouge, LA, and resident of Silverhill, AL, passed away, Wednesday, February 8, 2017 with his family by his side. It was in his tenth-grade year that he met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Pat at a dance at Woodlawn High School. He later attended Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, LA.
They married in 1960 and dancing they did for many years until the end when he went home to be with his Lord. He was employed for over twenty-five years at both Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and Arkansas until retiring in 2002. He also served as a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Patrick Catholic Church and a former member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church of Denham Springs, LA. A devout Catholic and Christian, he exemplified the joy of Christ in everything that he did. He loved LSU football and he loved spending time with his family. Geaux Tigers! He was preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Gertrude Simoneaux Prejean and his brother, Claude Prejean, Jr.
He is survived by his loving wife of fifty-six years, Patricia D. Prejean of Silverhill, AL; one son and daughter in law, Greg and Trina Prejean, Slaughter, LA; two daughters and sons in law, Karen and Mark Bryant, Denham Springs, LA and Patti and Scott Huval, Daphne, AL. Also surviving were his seven grandchildren and his nine great grandchildren; sister in law, Katherine Prejean.
J.D.’s family and friends will celebrate his life with a memorial visitation to be held at 11:00am until 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA, 70816.
