Bay Minette, AL

Tonya Alixis Overstreet, 69, of Bay Minette, passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017 surrounded by family. She was born November 23, 1947 in Mobile.

Alixis is survived by her four children, Tonya (Thom) Hamilton of West Monroe, LA, Nara (Timmy) McMillan of Bay Minette, AL, Forrest Overstreet of Bay Minette, and Joseph (Jessica) Overstreet of Monroe, LA; her two sisters, Janice (Johnny) Swann of Pensacola, FL and Jacque (Warren) Johnson of Bay Minette. She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Alixis is preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Delia Price.

She was well-known in town as a hairdresser and it wasn’t uncommon for people to be in and out of her house all day long. Even after becoming an RN, people would still ask if she cut hair. Alixis never met a stranger, she always wanted to know who you were and who your family was, she wanted to find that connection. Alixis had a bright and caring spirit and was one of a kind. You couldn’t meet Alixis and not come away with a story. She made sure everyone had what they needed or wanted because she knew God would cover her. Alixis was wise and boldly stood for what she believed in, at the core of everything she was an amazing mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend. Even though she is gone, she will continue to make an impact on people and their lives because of the life she had. One of the last things Alixis said was that she wanted to make sure all of her family knew God and was taken care of.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Crossroads Church, 10777 Co. Rd. 138, Bay Minette, AL, 36507. The family will receive friends at 10:00am. Expressions of condolence may be offered at Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL.
