Spanish Fort, AL

Lisa Newman Baker, 58, of Spanish Fort, AL, went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, December 21, 2017.  She was born and raised in Fairhope, AL and was a graduate of the Fairhope High School Class of 1978.  It was there that she met the love of her life, Gary and soon after graduating, they were married.  She worked in customer service for over 24 years at IDeACOM of the Gulf Coast in Daphne.  Lisa would light up a room anywhere she went.  She was a kind hearted lady who loved everyone she met and always seemed to put everyone else’s need above her own. Traveling was something she enjoyed and looked forward to, but she was always happy to come home.  She was also a great cook and loved her Alabama Crimson Tide Football.  Can we just say Roll Tide here?! Throughout her illness, she was so courageous and fought so hard, yet still having fun, being “goofy” and laughing with her family and friends.   She was a devoted wife and mother who loved her family and adored her grandchildren and was a friend to anyone she met.  She is predeceased by her father, Raymond Newman.

She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Gary Allen Baker of Spanish Fort; her children, Michael A. (Juanita) Baker of Daphne and Jana B. (Jason) Lett of Pelham, AL; her mother, Annette Randall Newman of Fairhope; two brothers, Steven (Jeanette) Newman of Silverhill, AL and Mark Newman of Fish River, AL;  four sisters, Susan (Chuck) Falkenberry of Daphne, Janet (Mark) Joyce of Atlanta, GA, Christy Newman of Fairhope and JoAnne Newman of Mobile, AL.  Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Sofia and Oliver Baker; and many other relatives and friends.

A Celebration of Lisa’s life will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 3Circle Church – South Campus, 10274 AL-104, Fairhope, AL 36532.  The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:30 am.  Inurnment will be held in Greenwood Cemetery in Loxley, AL.  Officiating will be Rev. Mike Megginson.  Though flowers are welcome, the family suggests that donations may be made to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (www.lungcancerresearchfoundation.org ).  Expressions of condolence may be offered at https://hughesfh.com.   Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL, 36526
