In Loving Memory
April 12, 1953 – January 26, 2018
Gene Paul “Toodlum” Carroll, Sr., 64, of Fairhope, died peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family, January 26, 2018. Paul was a lifelong resident of Fairhope, a graduate of Fairhope High School and Faulkner State, where he played baseball. He loved sports, playing softball, running 10k’s, and coaching soccer and softball. He was a lover of Alabama football, fishing and flying with anyone to anywhere. Paul worked for Thomas Roofing as a project manager for almost 40 years and was a member of 3Circle Church South. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle and Dad to his furbabies, Cookie, Ozzy, Lucy Lou, Peanut and Sundae. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Albert and Willa and by a sister, Lorelei Foster.
Survivors include his wife, Sharon Rayborn Carroll; children, Gene Paul Carroll, Jr. (Catelin); Michele Thiel; and Marie (Justin) Roode all of Fairhope. He is also survived by his step-children, Tim (Cassie) Barre’ of Marrero, LA; Tiffany (Andy) Rezner and Terron (Jennifer) Parsons; brother, Whitney (Lisa) Cadwell; sisters, Mellessi (Michael) Antinarella and Gay (Mark) Davis; parents-in-law, Thomas “Bud” and Evon Rayborn, Sr. all of Fairhope. Paul has 13 grandchildren, Carson, Nathan, Katie, Grace, Isabella, Caleigh, Nolan, Audrey, Elijah, Ava, Abigail, Zooey and Clayton; god-daughter, Kaylin Rayborn and nieces, nephews and other relatives.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, January 30, 2018 at 3Circle Church North, Hwy 64, Daphne, from 1pm until the funeral at 2pm. Pastor Chris Bell will officiate. Pallbearers will be Bryan Rayborn, Michael Antinarella, Mark Davis, Del Venable, Kenny Crow, Kevin Ward, Tim Manuel, Walter Venable, Jr. and Tommy Rayborn (honorary). Interment will follow in Belforest Community Cemetery. In lieu of flowers (per Paul’s request) PLEASE make donations in his memory to Pilots for Christ, P. O. Box 707, Monroeville, AL 36461.
