John Paul Anderson, 84, passed away March 2, 2018. He graduated from Ensley High School in 1951. John Paul earned a 4 year baseball scholarship to the University of Alabama where he was a left-handed pitcher for the Tide from 1952-1955. He played on the 1955 SEC Championship Team and received All American Honors. The Philadelphia Phillies drafted him after college and he played 6 years for several minor league teams. He taught at Banks High School and retired from Stockham Valves and Fittings. After raising his family in Homewood, AL, he moved to Riverside, AL and subsequently moved to Fairhope, AL.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Noreen Mulvaney Anderson.
He is survived by his children Pat Anderson (Donna) of Fairhope, AL, Peggy Parrish (Clynt) of New Kent, VA, Dan Anderson (Amy) of Vestavia Hills, AL, Joe Anderson (Melanie) of Hoover, AL and his eight grandchildren, David (fiance Margot), Kevin (fiance Anna), Patrick, Madeline (fiance Steven), Mitchell (Jamie), Daniel, Claire and Elizabeth Anderson, as well as his sister Jane Larkin (Malcolm).
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 10th, 1:00-2:30 at John Ridouts, Homewood, AL. Following visitation, there will be a graveside service for the family at Elwood Cemetery.
