July 22, 1937 – May 7, 2018
James Kemble Merrihew, Jr., a native of Long Island, New York, and a resident of Fairhope, Alabama, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at the age of 80. Mr. Merrihew was a veteran of the US Army. He graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Alabama. He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church. Mr. Merrihew was employed at Title Insurance Company, which later became Land America, where he was employed as Vice President and then retired after 42 years. He was a member of the Jaycees and Fairhope First. He loved travelling with his family in his free time and was an avid golfer. But above all, he loved his family, and especially his grandchildren.
Mr. Merrihew was preceded in death by his parents, James Kemble Merrihew, Sr. and Julia Snyder Merrihew. He is survived by his wife, Millie M. Merrihew; daughter, Constance “Connie” Merrihew, of Fairhope, AL; brother, Lawrence “Larry” Lee (Shirley) Merrihew, of Fairhope, AL; grandson, Hasten James Howard; granddaughter, Jaden Brielle Howard; as well as other family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held at Hughes Funeral Home, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL, on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at 5:30 PM. Visitation prior to the service will be from 4:30 -5:30 PM. Expressions of condolence for the family may be made at www.hughesfh.com.
