In Loving Memory

September 14, 1954 – June 7, 2018

Charles E. Hoequist, Jr., died in his home in Daphne, AL at the age of 63 on June 7, 2018 after a long struggle with cancer.

Charley is survived by his wife, Muriel; two children, Moritz, and Ida; his father, Charles E Hoequist, Sr., and his sister, Carolyn Sanchez. Charley is also survived by his extended family and friends, as well as his extensive collections of coins, stamps, National Geographic magazines, and books; he took joy in these and other hobbies, especially bike rides and music. Charley is remembered for his sense of humor and wit, and for his insatiable curiosity for more knowledge, from the cutting edge of scientific research as much as from literature, art, music, and life itself. Many who knew him have expressed that he made them want to be a better person. In honor of Charley’s life and interests.

A celebration of his life will be held at Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church at 4:00pm on Tuesday, June 19, 2018.

In honor of Charley’s life and interests, it is his family’s wish that instead of flowers, memorial donations in his name be sent to the Gaillard Pancreatic Endowment at the Mitchell Cancer Institute in Mobile, for early detection of pancreatic cancer, or directly to the Mitchell Cancer Institute, USA Mitchell Cancer Institute 1660 Springhill Avenue, Mobile, Alabama 36604-1405, designated to “pancreatic cancer research, for continued progress on treatment of pancreatic cancer patients.”

Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com.  Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & crematory, 7951 American way, Daphne, AL, 36526.
