Barbara “Ann” Kendrick James, 71, of Spanish Fort, AL, passed away unexpectedly on the morning of Tuesday, August 21, 2018.

Ann was born June 17, 1947 to Barbara Raye Carter Kendrick and the late Bura Allison “B.A.” Kendrick, Jr. in Charlotte, NC. She was a 1965 graduate of Garinger High School in Charlotte, NC, and was an avid lover of animals, books, Neil Diamond and “oldies” music. Ann held several positions over the years, including the USPS, always taking great care to dispense amazing customer service and no-nonsense advice. A woman of few words, she had a heart and laugh as big as a lion. To truly know Ann was a privilege, and she will be deeply missed.

Ann is survived by her best friend, high school sweetheart and husband of 51 years, Joey James, of Spanish Fort. Ann is also survived by her daughters, Wendy Ann Johannesmann, of Daphne; Nikki James (Peter) Zellner of Virginia Beach, VA; mother, Barbara Raye Carter Kendrick, of Matthews, NC; sisters, Sharyn (Howard) Thackston, and Kay Patty of North Carolina; and four grandchildren, Brittany and Brooke Johannesmann, and Ronan and Owen Zellner. She was preceded in death by her brother, Bura Allison Kendrick, III, and her father, Bura Allison Kendrick, Jr.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 5 – 6pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8271 Whispering Pines Road, Daphne, AL 36526. A “Celebration of Life” service will immediately follow at 6 p.m., also at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated by Deacon Malcolm Zellner.
