In Loving Memory

Samuel Lee Ray, born on February 29, 1940 to Louella Wiggins and Egbert E. Ray, went to be with the Lord on October 25, 2018. Samuel served honorably in the US Navy and was a true patriot who loved his country and fellow veterans. His lasting legacy is that of a well-loved, highly-respected, and humble man. He was a good friend and known for his kindness, generosity, and gentle spirit. He gave more than he had and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary and Margaret.

He is survived by siblings, Paul, Claude, Giles, and Gloria Ann. He is also survived by his children, Mitchell, Jeffrey, Jon, and Lisa; grandchildren, Felicia, Nicole, Kolby, Kolter, Maddie, Emma, AnnaLisa, Deishaly, Antonio, Jamir, Logan, and Aniya; great grandchildren, Leo and Mahoney. Not only will Samuel be deeply missed by his multitude of family and friends, but the Crimson Tide have lost a faithful and lifelong fan. Roll Tide.

A committal service will be held at 2:30 pm, Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort. Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com. Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory in Daphne, AL.
