In Loving Memory

January 16, 1945 – February 28, 2019

Mrs. Jennifer Marie Cometti Rolison, 74, of Daphne, entered into the blessed presence of her Lord on February 28, 2019. She was born on January 16, 1945 in Mobile and lived on the family farm in Daphne most of her life.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Ken, of Daphne; her loving son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Jennifer Centner Rolison, of Waxhaw, NC; the apple of her eye, her granddaughter, Julia Marie; her beloved sister, Olympia Tucker of Grant; her cherished nieces, Tracy Nichols of Cowan, Tenn., and Leslie Carey of Savannah, GA; her treasured nephew, John Tucker of Dallas; and longtime family friend and caregiver, Rose Paige of Daphne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Augustus and Mary Lucille Higdon Cometti, and by a nephew, Patrick Nichols. Her paternal ancestors, the Comettis, were among the founding families of the Italian colony in Daphne.

A graduate of Fairhope High School and of the Mobile General Hospital School of Nursing, Jennifer was a registered nurse who, in her lengthy career, worked for the Red Cross and for the Baldwin County Health Department. She retired in 2005 as director of public health nursing for the county.

She prized her family and was proud of the fact that she was the first grandparent to hold her granddaughter. Through the years, she let nothing stand in the way of being with her family, regularly traveling hundreds of miles for visits.

Jennifer’s tender heart was especially evident in her love for animals. Through the years she enjoyed the sweet companionship of many dogs and cared for them lovingly.  Above all, her life was characterized by devotion to the triune God. She experienced the sovereign grace of God at an early age, drawing her to trust the Lord Jesus Christ as her Redeemer as a young woman. She loved to worship Him (and to invite others to join her) with her church family and in private life. Her personal theological library would be the envy of many ministers – but for Jennifer, theology served only to deepen her devotion to Christ.

Jennifer lives now in the fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11) in the presence of her Lord. Those who knew her in this life will remember her for her elegance, classic beauty, Southern graciousness – and especially for her dignified and honorable Christian life. Her Godly example is her enduring legacy to us all.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Stockton Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from the church, with interment to follow at the Belforest Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, gifts may be made in her memory to The Haven Animal Shelter, 559 Section Street, Fairhope, AL 36532, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org/donate.
