In Loving Memory

March 20, 1945 – Friday, June 28, 2019

Larry E. Andrews, 74, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 28, 2019. He was born in Folkston, GA, on March 20, 1945. He married Debbie Andrews, the love of his life, on July 2, 1976, and together throughout the next 43 years, they raised a family while calling seven different states home until retiring to Foley, AL, in 2015.

He was a faithful servant whose service did not end with his time spent in the U.S. Air Force. He served the Lord, his church and his family. He was a loving husband who adored his wife and was an amazing dad, father-in-law, and granddaddy. Nothing made him happier than preparing for his children and grandchildren’s visits. Highlights of these events often included shucking oysters, boiling crawfish, debating propane vs. charcoal grilling, winning heated domino and dart competitions, and enjoying the paradise he created in his backyard. He freely shared his knowledge of cooking, gardening, and old song lyrics. There are so many things others learned from his example. He was always thankful for times and experiences that God provided for him and looked for the sunny side in every situation.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Myrtle Andrews; brother, Willie Andrews; and sister, Pat Newsom.

Larry is survived by his wife, Debbie Andrews; daughter, Melissa Renacker (Mike) of St. Johns, FL; son, Tim Andrews (Heidi) of Tyler, TX; daughter, Joni Wills (Andrew) of Abu Dhabi, UAE; grandchildren, Nick Renacker, Drew Renacker, Harper Andrews, Layla Andrews, Claire Wills, and another, Baby Wills on the way. He also is survived by his sister, Margie Hobbs (Henry) of Pace, FL, and many other loved ones.

Visitation will be Monday, July 1, 2019 at 9 a.m. with a memorial worship service to follow at 10 a.m., both at First Baptist Church Gulf Shores, 2200 West 1st Street, Gulf Shores, AL.  A committal service will be held on Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at 1:30 p.m. at Barrancas National Cemetery, Naval Air Station, 1 Cemetery Road, Pensacola, FL 32508.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Building Together for the new Christian Growth Center and Children’s Wing, First Baptist Church Gulf Shores, 2200 West 1st Street, Gulf Shores, AL, 36542.
