In Loving Memory
June 11, 1971 – August 2, 2019
Ashley Lyn Pugh Smith, age 48, a native and resident of Mobile, AL passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019. Ashley was a graduate of Baker High School and Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Merchandising. She worked at several department stores in Mobile, AL and New Orleans, LA, was a member of D.H. Holmes Teen Board in high school, and a National Award member for drama and speech in 1987-1988. Ashley loved scrap-booking, photography, floral arranging and was a florist in Marietta, GA.
Ashley is preceded in death by her father, Walter G. “Sonny” Pugh; maternal grandmother, Minnie Batchelor-Brooks; maternal grandfather, Cyril B. Batchelor; paternal grandmother, Lillian C. Averette Pugh; and paternal grandfather, Arvel E. Pugh.
She is survived by her spouse of 23 years, Steven Sean Smith; three daughters, Madelyn Smith, Olivia Smith, and Sophia Smith all of Mobile, AL; mother, Linda Joyce Batchelor Pugh; aunt, Janet Thorsen of Orlando, FL; aunt, Vaymelle Kugler of Kingsville, MD; uncle, Brent (Sheila) Pugh of Mobile, AL; very special cousin, Jennifer Pugh Wright; and numerous cousins from FL, AL, and MD; special friends, Pam Cox, Laura Gale, Michelle Edwards of Mobile, AL; and Gail Allen, Aretha Danielson both of GA; as well as other family members and friends.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Westlake Church, 13685 Tanner Williams Road, Wilmer, AL 36587. Rev. Vaughan Gardner will be officiating the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ashley Pugh Smith scholarship fund for her daughters. Madelyn, Olivia and Sophia, in their mother’s memory. A special thanks to Rev. Vaughan and Virginia Gardner for all your prayers and spiritual guidance. Ashley was an inspiration to us all, as she had been fighting her blood clotting disease for over twenty years.
