In Loving Memory
January 27, 2011 – March 15, 2020
Liam John Ripp, a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the age of 9.
Liam was in the third grade at Rockwell Elementary School and in the Project Jubilee Gifted Program. Liam enjoyed Nerf guns, video games, Harry Potter, Minecraft, traveling around the world, math and reading.
He also loved science and engineering, which was obvious with statements like, “Mom, do you know why perpetual motion machines don’t work?” Though he faced challenges setting him apart from his peers, those challenges did not keep him from making friends wherever he went. Liam was a very funny, smart, ingenious young boy. He would keep family entertained by reciting movies and favorite YouTube shows. He never ceased to amaze with his undeniable wit, saying things like “Let me consume your warmth” while cuddling on cold mornings, or “Transport me” when hitching a piggy back ride on days he didn’t feel like getting out of bed. His favorite place to be was home with his family playing Legos and games with trips to Waffle House with his dad for breakfast coming in at a close second.
Liam is survived by his parents, Steven and Elizabeth Ripp; his big brother, Riley DeWitt; grandparents, Mal and Sheryl Ripp, Sue Garl and Jack Nicholson, and Stephen Garl; his Aunt Kristy Ripp, Uncle Jeff and Aunt Leah Garl; cousins, Jaxon and Tallulah Garl; and his dog, Tootsie; along with extended family members and his school friends.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at 12:00 noon at 3Circle Church, 10274 State Highway 104 in Fairhope, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to autism summer camp at www.americanautismcenter.com/liam or the Ronald McDonald House in Pensacola, FL at https://rmhc-nwfl.org/donate, as a tribute gift.
