In Loving Memory

December 11, 1936 – July 11, 2020

 

Malbis, AL

Mary Nell Bryan, a resident of Malbis, AL, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at the age of 83.

Mary Nell graduated from Murphy High School in 1955 with honors.  She attended Mississippi Southern on a music scholarship where she was a homecoming maid, top 20 beauties, a Dixie Darling and was a member of Chi Omega.  She was a realtor and broker for almost 40 years; and was a member of Eastern Shore Baptist Church.

Mary Nell is preceded in death by her parents, Willis Jerry Stokes and Margaret Nell Holyfield Stokes; sister, Ann Andrade; and brother-in-law, Jack Andrade.

She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Charles Aubrey Bryan; children, Dawn Patricia Everette (Gene) of Fairhope, AL, Daniel Stephen Newell of Birmingham, AL, Michael Harvey Newell of Mobile, AL, Randy Bryan (Amy) of Mobile, AL, Alan Bryan (Cynthia) of Mobile, AL and Lisa Drey of Oregon; eleven grandchildren, Hali Everette, Kristie Everette Freeman (Taylor), Simms Newell, Davis Newell, Betty Jo Bryan Pitts (Trey), Matthew Bryan (Nikki), Darrell Bryan (Candice), Serena Tillman (Brian), Jessica Belida, Natasha Jordan, and  Jeremey Adams (Melissa); eleven great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild; siblings, Jane McGill (Max) of Mobile, AL, Jerry Stokes (Glenda) of Florida and Bill Stokes of Florida; along with other family members and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL. There will be a time of visitation before the service beginning at 9:30 a.m. Officiating the service will be Dr. Stuart Davidson. Interment will follow at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spanish Fort. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will be following the guidelines set up by the CDC and ADPH regarding social distancing, and face masks will be required. Face masks will be provided for those who do not have one.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her memory to the Murphy Class of 1955 (Family Scholar) and/or Burton Restoration Ship Fund.
