In Loving Memory

December 2, 1990 – July 11, 2020

Mobile, AL

Joshua Martin Byars left this earth to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ on July 11, 2020.  He was born December 2, 1990 and God gave us the privilege to be his parents on February 23, 1991, when we adopted him.  Josh graduated from Alma Bryant High School and those of you who knew Josh knew college was not for him.  He chose the technical path and ended up working for his best friend, Manny, at One Call Plumbing.

Josh was preceded in death by his grandparents, Martin Franklin Byars, Margaret Puckett Byars, Bernard Inge Crabtree and Ethelyn Steiner Crabtree; an uncle and two cousins.

He was survived by his parents, Joe and Sheila Byars; his son, Grayson; sister, Brandi and brother-in-law, Ricky ;and the niece he was so proud of, Makenzie; and loving aunts and uncles and his truly beloved cousins.

A beloved son, adoring father, brother and loyal friend, Josh will be missed every single day. In our great sadness we find comfort in the knowledge that in the past several years Josh was able to experience the unconditional love of God.   He was in a good place in his life.  A love which guided him and was a source of strength in his unwavering commitment to be a beacon of love and light for his son.   Anyone who knew him, even a little, knew that Josh’s greatest joy in life was any moment he could spend with his son.

Josh had an immense love for the outdoors and everything that the Gulf Coast had to offer.   He loved fishing, riding his new Sea-Doo, tubing and simply being in and on the water; any day, every day, all day.  Down the bay with precious family and friends and the beautiful sunsets is where Josh wanted to be.   This was where he was the happiest and living his best life.  He had found his “Happy Place” and this is why we are having his “Celebration of Life” on the bay.

Though he was taken from his earthly family way too soon we know that he is eternally in the loving arms of God and is now with his grandparents, Grandma and Grandpa and Grandmother, who we are certain already had a deck of cards shuffled and ready to play.  He finally got to meet the grandfather he never knew.   There is no doubt in our minds they are all jumping with heavenly glee that their Josh has come home.

His friends and cousins sent some of the most beautiful heartfelt comments to us and we would like to share some of them:

Josh was passionate about just about everything whether it was his work, his relationship with his family and friends or helping his dad with the bulkhead and pier.  He was proud of his red-headed mane and would tell us he was the red-headed Jesus. He took great pride in getting his hair fixed exactly right.

He was the best dad that anyone could ask for.  He took pride in teaching Grayson all the things his dad had taught him.  He loved the simple things; a sunset, pelicans flying overhead in a perfect V, catching his dinner off the pier and frying it up.  Being with his son, family and friends that’s where Josh was the happiest.

My sweet cousin was one of the nicest guys I had the privilege to grow up with.  We had a bond that’s unforgettable.  Our connection still lives on even though we are very far away.  I will look for you among the stars.

We know you are in every sunrise and every sunset. His memory will forever live on through all of us.  Until we see you again dear friend.
We thank God for the time we had with our Josh and we will miss him every day until we are together again.

Josh’s Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 25, 2020 beginning at 3:00 PM. The bay house address is 14173 Dauphin Island Pkwy. in Coden.  Bring chairs, dress casual (it’s going to be hot) and drinks and food will be served.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a trust fund they are establishing for Josh’s son, Grayson.  Donations may be mailed to 14173 Dauphin Island Parkway, Coden, AL 36523.  Josh’s greatest joy was Grayson, whom he loved greater than any father ever could.

Expressions of condolence for the family may be made at www.hughesfhs.com.  Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.
