In Loving Memory
April 6, 1950 – July 16, 2020
Donald Ray Neese went home to be with his Savior on July 16, 2020 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Don’s life was well lived and he was well loved by his family and many friends. He had a smile and a laugh that would light up a room!
Don grew up in Pensacola, met his wife Laurie in high school and were married in 1970. They started a long, blessed journey through life that included two wonderful children and four precious grandchildren.
Their son Steve, married Megan Stanton and they have Ida and Mabel. Their daughter, Nancy, married Jason Barbee and they have Luke and Abby. He always remained close to his brothers, Danny and Robert.
He graduated from UWF with an accounting degree but explored several other fields of endeavor also. Moving to different areas for work was always an option, but he never strayed too far from his Southern roots.
Don loved being outdoors, loved (and hated!) golf and served his Lord in various Lutheran churches through the years. We are so very thankful to have shared 70 years with him and know we will see him again in Heaven around the throne of God.
In lieu of flowers, if you prefer, please send a donation to a charity of your choice.
No services have been scheduled at this time. Expressions of condolence for the family may be made at www.hughesfh.com. Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.
I went to high school with Donnie. We had a very close mutual friend. Donnie was smart, funny, sweet, and kind. What a great picture you chose! So sorry for your loss.
Yes, I remember him speaking fondly of you! I had a hard time picking a picture, but loved that one the best! He was such a good husband and father and I am comforted that I will see him again one day. Today (July 25, 2020) is our 50th wedding anniversary! I’m still celebrating – he is just in another room!
Thank you for your kind thoughts…
