In Loving Memory

January 28, 1940 – October 1, 2020

 

Ruth Amanda Cambron Davis, age 80, longtime resident of Fairhope, AL, went home to be with the Lord on, Thursday, October 1, 2020. She was born in Piedmont, AL to Milford Hiram and Ludie Grace Cambron.  She and her family moved to Prichard, AL when she was 8 years old where she grew up alongside her six siblings. She is a graduate of Vigor High School and attended the University of Mobile where she studied business education.

Amanda worked as a pastor’s secretary, and later retired as an administrative assistant to the vice president of an oil refinery. After retiring, she worked part time at First Baptist Church of Fairhope. She and her husband, Charles became world travelers with the Alabama Power Energizers travel group visiting over sixty-seven different countries. For Amanda, life was sweetest when she was with her family and friends for gatherings. Amanda was an artist and participated in numerous art shows which included Fairhope Arts and Crafts Festival. She was an avid reader, enjoyed teaching Sunday school and was instrumental in the revitalization and maintaining of the library at First Baptist Church Fairhope. She was also a member of the sewing group at her church which was responsible for making newborn clothing and quilts for preemie babies. She was a woman of great faith, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Amanda was one of the most compassionate and generous women anyone would ever have the privilege of meeting and loved life.

Amanda is preceded in death by her loving husband, Charles E. Davis; her first born grandson, Justin Wayne Teet, her parents; brothers, Randy L. and H.D. Cambron; and sisters Gennia L. Ward and Reba Kay Cambron.

She is survived by her daughters, Sonya (Jim) Bowling and Charlotte Teet, both of Fairhope.  Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Tara T. Stembridge of Daphne, Lauren L. and Audrey D. Bowling of Fairhope; great grandchildren, Tristan J., and Anna Kate Teet both of Jackson, AL; and two loving brothers, Joel D. Cambron of Spanish Fort, AL and Larry L. Cambron of Mobile, AL.

In keeping with her wishes, the family will celebrate her life with a memorial service on Sunday, October 11, 2020 at First Baptist Church of Fairhope from 2:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, her family suggests memorial donations be made in Amanda’s memory to:  The First Baptist Church of Fairhope, 300 S.
