Mary Burnett Carson passed away December 11, 2022, at Crowne (Oakwood) Nursing Home in Bay Minette, Alabama at the age of 81. She was a native of Bessemer, Alabama born July 17, 1941, and a resident of Bay Minette, Alabama.

Mary grew up in Bessemer, attended Bessemer High and graduated from Auburn University in 1964, later earning her masters in American History from Troy University.

She was active in her community working with the Little Theatre Guild, Delta Kappa Gamma, participating in church groups and her favorite, being a member of the choir at First United Methodist Church in Bay Minette.

Her career as an American History Teacher spanned over 20 years teaching at Baldwin County High, Daphne Middle and Daphne High Schools. She loved what she did and her students.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Audrey Fewell Burnett and Franklin Pierce Burnett, and her husband, Leon Scott Carson.

She is survived by her children, Brian Carson (Elana), Alan Carson (Marion); and her grandchildren, Aaron Carson (Denise) and Hannah Carson.

A celebration of life service is planned for 9:00AM, Saturday, January 14, 2023, at the First United Methodist Church, 120 W 2nd Street, in Bay Minette, Alabama.

    As a fellow church member with Mary I remember her for her dry wit. She certainly had a great sense of humor.. A loyal member of the choir which I appreciated since I can’t sing and so happy that those that can do. Mary is at peace. May your family reminisce about all the good times.
