With heavy hearts, we remember and honor our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, Alfredo Gaytan Villamar, who passed away on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the age of 78.
Alfredo was a dedicated electrician by profession and a hardworking man who came to California in the late 1980s with a dream of building a better life for his family. He worked for many years in the agricultural and food industries, always putting his family first and working tirelessly to provide for them and bring them to the United States.
Throughout the years he called California, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Alabama home. Wherever life took him, he carried with him the values of hard work, love, and devotion to his family.
Family was at the center of his life. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones and especially loved being surrounded by his grandchildren. Their smiles and laughter brought him great joy. He also had a tender way of showing his love for his wife, Feliciana, whom he lovingly called “Lincin.” After 52 years of marriage, their love and companionship were a beautiful example of a lifelong commitment.
He was a man who showed his love through his actions—through his hard work, his generosity, his thoughtful gestures, and the time he gave to those he loved. One of the simple joys he shared with Feliciana was bringing her plants, a small but meaningful expression of his love for her.
Alfredo is preceded in death by his precious wife, Feliciana Gaytan and his parents, Francisco Gaytan Mateo and Josefina Villamar Aguilar. He is survived by his children, Alfredo Gaytan and wife, Sarah of OK, Amador Gaytan and wife, Christina of AL, Francisco Gaytan and wife, Paula of TX, Tamara Wooten and husband Jeremy of AL and Alfonso Gaytan and wife, Griz of AL; eleven grandchildren, Alicia, Xavier, Amador, Jr. Arlen, Benny, Karla, Julie, Monica, Nadine, Aaron and Adam; one great-grandchild, Aurora; siblings, Irma Gaytan Villamar, Rosalina Gaytan Villamar, Roberto Gaytan Villamar, Catalina Gaytan Villamar, Josefina Gaytan Villamar, Bernardino Gaytan Villamar and Laura Gaytan Villamar; along with nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
His life was a testament to perseverance, sacrifice, and unconditional love. He leaves behind a beautiful legacy in the family he worked so hard to build and the many lives he touched along the way.
He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, at 11:30AM. There will be a time of visitation with family and friends before the service begins at 10:30AM.

My father-in-law was a loving, caring, and enthusiastic man. He always had a smile on his face and could make you laugh for hours. He had a way of bringing joy and laughter wherever he went.
He loved his family with all of his heart and would do anything for the people he cared about. I feel truly blessed to have had him as my father-in-law. You couldn’t ask for a better father-in-law, and he will be deeply missed.
His love, laughter, and beautiful smile will forever remain in our hearts. ❤️
Mi tío was one of a kind.
As far back as I can remember in Planada—or as my older cousins used to call it, Planet X—he was always laughing, joking, or fixing something.
But above all else, he was welcoming and loving. Boy, did he love to feed everyone who came by for a visit out in the middle of nowhere. He truly loved the open country and the peaceful, simple life it gave him.
Now as an adult, I realize that his infectious laugh and the calm, steady peace he carried within came from that very freedom.
