In Loving Memory

William Allen Andrews

May 26, 1964 - April 5, 2020

Allen Andrews, gentle soul, loving husband, and doting father passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, April 5, 2020. He was 55 years old.

Allen was born on May 26, 1964, in Mobile, Alabama. He grew up there, graduating from UMS Preparatory School in 1982, having distinguished himself as an exceptional athlete while also maintaining a standard of excellence as a scholar. He pursued his undergraduate studies at Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1986, while lettering all four years for the Millsaps football team and being a member of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Returning to Mobile after graduation, he continued to flourish both personally and professionally as he helped, along with his brother Bubba, further developing the family business created by their father. His most important achievement, and the one that brought him the most joy, was the family he established with his wife, Pamela Ryburn Andrews of Killeen, Texas, whom he married on June 21, 1992. They raised three amazing children, Lexus, Chandler, and William. Allen’s family was the most important part of his life and he was not shy about telling everyone he met how proud he was of them and how much he loved them.

Allen was an accomplished hunter and fisherman as well as an avid sports fan. His greatest talent, as well as his greatest passion, was touching the soul of everyone he met, with an effortless and magical extension of his own soul, forging the strongest bonds of friendship.  It is this talent, and this passion, above all, that is responsible for the lifelong friends he brought together year after year, as they flocked to his home on Dauphin Island, Alabama. His friends came from all corners of the country and overseas to share his joy and kind feeling. This is the same talent, after all, and the very same passion, that nurtured the family he so adored and adored him in return. To be Allen’s friend was to truly be a friend for life.

Now, Heaven just became a lot more fun with Bonehead holding cooking contests while angels play Led Zeppelin on the violin.

Allen was preceded in death by his father, William Edsel Andrews, and his mother, Laura Andrews.

He is survived by his wife, Pam; his three children, Lexus, Chandler and William; brother, Edsel A. “Bubba” Andrews (Ann); sisters, Geri Andrews and Sharon Andrews Hancock (Charles); nephew, Edsel “Drew” Andrews; nieces, Dr. Beverly Morgan Yordy, Laura Elizabeth Hancock, Jennifer Hancock Porter, and Brady Hancock Burge; in-laws, Col. (ret.) and Mrs. Glenn O. Ryburn, Jr., and nieces and nephews.
