On Thursday, May 28, 2026, Anne Black Anderson, loving wife, mother of three children, grandmother of eight, great-grandmother of one, and friend to many, passed away peacefully at the age of 73.

Anne was born on March 18, 1953, in Mobile, Alabama, to Robert Thomas “R.T.” Black and Eleanor Andress Black. She grew up alongside her beloved sister, Sandra Morton, and remained proud of her Mobile roots throughout her life.

She graduated from Murphy High School in 1971 and went on to attend X-ray School at Mobile Infirmary, where she graduated first in her class. Anne dedicated her professional life to caring for others through a distinguished career in medical imaging. She began as an X-ray technologist, advanced into Special Procedures, and ultimately helped pioneer PET Scan imaging in the Mobile area, operating one of the region’s earliest PET Scan programs for many years before retiring from Mobile Infirmary Medical Center in 2018.

On January 15, 1983, Anne married the love of her life, Clifford Hollis Anderson, in St. Paul’s Chapel in Mobile, Alabama. Together they built a loving family and shared nearly 40 years of marriage until Cliff’s passing in 2022.

Anne was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Mobile, later moving to Daphne, and attending St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne. Her faith was a very important part of her life, and she faithfully served as a member of the Altar Guild for more than a decade. She found great joy in serving her church family and helping prepare God’s house for worship.

Anne and Cliff shared a lifelong love of University of Alabama football. They rarely missed an opportunity to either attend games in Tuscaloosa, or host parties to cheer on the Crimson Tide, and gather family and friends to celebrate game days together. They also enjoyed hosting and attending Mardi Gras events throughout their lives, creating many cherished memories with family and lifelong friends.

Anne’s greatest joy was her family. She loved celebrating holidays, birthdays, graduations, and every milestone in between. She was always happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Anne was known for her caring nature, strong work ethic, quick wit, and unwavering devotion to those she loved. She was a source of encouragement, wisdom, and strength for her family throughout her life.

Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Clifford Hollis Anderson.

She is survived by her children, Sean Beckham (Michelle), Chris Anderson (Kelly), and Michelle Hale (Shane); eight grandchildren, Bret Anderson (Korey), Dylan Hale, Brody Hale, Harper Beckham, Zoe Beckham, Addison Anderson, Reece Hale, and Chase Anderson; one great-granddaughter, Kiley Anderson; as well as many extended family members and dear friends whom she loved very much.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the physicians, nurses, caregivers, and hospice staff who provided Anne with compassionate care during her final days.

Services will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Chapel, 4051 Old Shell Road in Mobile, AL, on Monday, June 8, 2026, time 10AM, with a reception to follow in St. Paul’s Parish Hall.

Though Anne will be deeply missed, her family takes comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, kindness, faith, dedication, and service lives on in the many lives she touched.
