Anne Evans O’Neal, of Baldwin County, AL – Wilmington, DE – and St. Michael’s, MD, age 85, peacefully passed away, from complications of breast cancer, on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 at her home. Anne was the daughter of Harry and Louise Evans of St. Michael’s, MD.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Alice Cohee, Iva Thompson, Keith Evans, nephews, Timothy Cohee and Keith Evans.

She is survived by her brother, Harry Evans, Jr.; sisters-in-law, Sue Evans, Betty Evans; son, Richard; daughter-in-law, Christine; grandchildren, Thomas and Susan; 11 nieces and nephews and other family including Laura Shorter, whom she considered a daughter, her husband Bill and their children Amy and Danny.

Anne graduated from St. Michael’s High School and Baltimore Business College of the University of Maryland. She went on to serve as Deputy Clerk of the Court in Easton, MD for 5 years, after which she went to work as a Benefits Administrator for the DuPont Company at the Newport DE plant. Anne retired from DuPont in January 1991 after 39 years of faithful service. Anne was a parishioner of St. James Episcopal Church in Newport, DE where she was a member of the Vestry, Altar Guild, and The Women of St. James ECW and a Eucharistic Visitor. In 1999 Anne moved to Alabama to be near her son and family. Shortly after the move she spent several years working at a local retail furniture store. Anne enjoyed tending her flowers and observing the wildlife in her yard, crafts, gardening, golf, bowling, and travelling (United Kingdom, Cayman, and Spain).

The family would like to thank Synergy Home Care, especially her friend Frankie Jackson for her hard work and kind care through the preparations to return home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00pm, Saturday, May 31, 2014, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Daphne, AL. Funeral Services will be at the Christ Church in St. Michael’s followed by interment at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Easton, Maryland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions, in memory of Anne, to The Haven Animal Rescue Service, 559 S. Section Street, Fairhope, AL 36532, or your local no-kill animal shelter.
