August Francis Baer – Born on April 22, 1918, in St Louis, Missouri, to August L. and Margaret Schultz Baer, died at his Catherine Place residence in Daphne, Alabama, on Sunday, May 13, 2007, at the age of 89. Mr Baer was a long time resident of Mobile, Alabama, where he retired in 1974 as a Supervisory Structural Engineer and Chief of Hydraulic Structures Section in the Mobile District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Baer and Rose Baer of St. Louis. He is survived by his loving wife of over 65 years, Juliet Charlotte DeBisschop Baer; four children, Charles A. Bear of Daphne, Margaret Ann (Peggy) and her husband Carvel E. Deese of Daphne, Gregory R. and his wife Annette Turpin Baer of Marietta, Georgia and Roger D. and his wife Michele Calametti Baer of Mobile; twelve grandchildren, Deborah and her husband Roy Westbrook, Juliet and her husband Jeffrey Faulkner, Dr. Daniel and his wife Jessica Deese, Carolyn Baer, Esq. and her husband Charles Boring, Esq., Michael Baer, Esq., Kevin Baer, Aime’e Baer, Deanna and her husband Troy Markris, Michele and her husband Drew Stroecker, Kathleen and husband David Ross, Lori Baer, and Shelley Baer, thirteen great-grandchildren and one step great-grandchild; two sisters Grace and her husband Leroy Steiner, Esq. of St. Louis, and Dorothea Tyler of New York. A Memorial Mass will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church on Saturday, May 19, 2007 at 10:00 A.M. with interment immediately following at Belforest Catholic Cemetery near Daphne. The family will receive friends at the Church prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Mercy Medical, 101 Villa Dr, Daphne, AL 36526. Arrangements by: Hughes Cremation & Funeral Services Daphne, AL
