On Saturday, September 14, 2019, Barbara Roberts McLain started her eternal life in Heaven at the age of 65, while surrounded by family. Barbara was born on January 11, 1954 in Mobile, AL to Lambert Roberts and Ivon Tootle Roberts. Barbara grew up in Mobile where she graduated from Davidson High School and the University of South Alabama.

On May 4, 1990, she married Kenneth McLain. They raised three children, Heather, Dana and Elizabeth as well as their great-grandchildren, Mariyah and Jeremiah.  Barbara found happiness in all things bright and beautiful; foremost being Jesus as her shining light. She loved enjoying time in the sun at Ono Island and traveling to tropical destinations.  Barbara was great at creating lasting memories for all of her children, that they now recreate for their children, in turn.  She spent time helping family businesses, from her father’s business, Beautilite and Heather’s business, Collision Experts.  Her passion for Christ will be remembered by her family and community.

Barbara was preceded in death by her daughter, Angelique Alsworth; her brother, James Roberts; and her parents Lambert and Ivon Roberts.

She is survived by her loving husband, Kenneth McLain; her sister, Fran Roberts Schreck; her three children, Heather Humphries, Dana Phelps and Elizabeth Goldman; four grandchildren, Mary Boone, Brice Humphries, Lain Searle and Jordyn Phelps; five great-grandchildren, TJ, Mariyah, Jayden, Jeremiah and Kamari.

The family will receive visitors at Turning Point Church, 7941 Theodore Dawes Road West, Theodore, AL 36582, at 12:00 p.m. and the funeral will follow at 1:00 p.m.  The graveside service will follow at Pine Crest Cemetery.

    Barbara was a wonderful person and she will be sorely missed by all who love her. She loved the Lord and her family with all her heart. She has now found lasting peace, healing and joy with the Lord.

We are sorry we never got to meet Barbara, but we know from stories that Dana has shared with us that she was a wonderful women and that she meant a lot to our wonderful daughter in law, Dana.
