Tribute

Barbara Faye Franklin Smith, a native of Sweetwater, TN and a resident of Fairhope, AL, passed away on Sunday, April 23, 2023, at the age of 74.

Barbara graduated high school in Milton, Florida in 1967.  She married Robert Lee James Smith on June 17, 1967, in Milton, Florida.  She was a beloved Navy wife raising two wonderful children.  She loved exploring caves and collecting gemstones.  She also loved going to old cemeteries and doing rubbings of grave markers.  Her favorite things were reading, history, traveling and egg decorating. 

Barbara is preceded in death by her father, William Benjamin Franklin, her mother, Miriam Hazel Cash Franklin, and a sister, Carol Ann Franklin Chang.

She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Robert Lee James Smith of Fairhope, AL; children, Laura Faye Smith Talley and her husband, Dale Wayne Talley of Daphne, AL, David Leigh Smith of Everett, WA; and her grandchildren, Giselle Faye Talley Jones, Randy Wesley Jones, Brian Lee Wayne Talley, and Clair Danielle Liberty Talley.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 5, 2023, at Fairhope Christian Church, 349 Fairwood Blvd. in Fairhope, AL, at 11AM.  There will be a gathering in the church’s fellowship hall preceding the service for a lite meal.

    Memories of my friend Barbara who was also my neighbor for several years abound of visits between our families. My heart goes out to Robert and Laura and David and the grandchildren. Know that she is at rest now❤️❤️
