Mrs. Barbara Jean Yancey Gambino, who preferred to be called BJ, was born in Riverside CA on November 28, 1939, and passed away on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Thomas Hospital.

BJ worked for 25 years at Cabrillo College, and 13 years at Fairhope United Methodist Church. She was a sweet and gentle woman of God, who truly personified “The Love Chapter”.  She was known for her giving spirit and baking what she called “Gods Bread”. Pumpkin bread mini loaves and muffins were her call to fame. She gave away as many as 15,000 loaves.  She was a meticulous house cleaner and a wonderful care giver. BJ had a hunger for the presence of God, and she shared the love of God everywhere she went.

BJ is survived by her husband of 23 years, Mark Gambino.  She had two amazing children, Timothy Watlington, Renee LeFaive, married to Doug LeFaive Sr. and her stepson, Brodie Gambino (Teri); five grandchildren, Candice LeFaive (Paul), Tabitha LeFaive, Doug LeFaive Jr., London Gambino, and Phoenix Gambino; ten great-grandchildren, Austin, Owen, Connor, Masson, Hunter, Peyton, Holly, Elizabeth, Olivia, Audrey; and a large group of extended family and friends.

Words cannot express how much she will be missed. She is NOT lost but she is very much at peace in the presence of the Lord.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 11, 2020 at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, with a visitation prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM.  Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

Expressions of condolence for the family may be made at www.hughesfh.com. Hughes Funeral Home, Daphne, AL, is handling service arrangements for the family.
