Barbara Stallworth Baggett, 89, of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away on June 27, 2026, just days after Gerald, her beloved husband of nearly 73 years. She was born on August 1, 1936, in Repton, Alabama.

Barbara and Gerald were childhood sweethearts in Repton, the beginning of a love story that would span more than seven decades. They married and went on to share a lifetime together, making their home in Spanish Fort for more than 50 years and raising their family there. The fact that she followed him so soon, after a lifetime so rarely apart, feels only fitting.

A devoted member of Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church, Barbara gave generously of her time there over the years, and her faith and her church community were a cherished part of her life. Above all, she was a wonderful mother and grandmother — warm, steady, and deeply devoted to her family.

And if Gerald could most often be found on the golf course, Barbara could be found at the bridge table. She loved the game and played any chance she could — the cards, the company, and the good conversation that came with them.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald, and by her eldest daughter, Cheri.

Barbara is survived by her daughter, Lauren Moore and her husband, Keith, and Keith’s daughters, Krista Woods and Dayna Kippenbrock, and their families; and her daughter, Wendy Castle and her husband, Phillip, along with Wendy’s son, Matthew Walters. She is also survived by her grandchildren through her beloved Cheri, Thor Cumbie (Jeff), Trey Horsting, Allie Lursen (Matt), and Ben Boller (Chris); and two great-grandsons, Thomas and William, the sons of Allie and Matt.

Barbara and Gerald will be laid to rest together, reunited as they lived — side by side.

The family will gather for a graveside service on Friday, July 10, 2026, at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery at Spanish Fort. The funeral procession will line up at Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church at 8:45 a.m.

Following the graveside service, a memorial service will be held at Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church at 10:00 a.m., with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Spanish Fort Presbyterian Church.
