Bette Nell Evans was born March 21, 1938, in Fulton, Alabama. She was a long-time resident of Mobile and of Daphne, Alabama, and departed this life on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, after struggling with the effects of a stroke. 

Bette was a Vigor High School graduate.  She was a member of the Lord Jesus Christ Church.  Bette was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a great-great grandmother, aunt, great aunt, friend, and homemaker. Her true love was her family.  Bette’s Christian faith and church were very important to her. She loved the Lord and reading Bible scriptures. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing recipes. She loved plants of all kinds and had a “green thumb”. She enjoyed reading stories to her children and grandchildren and making funny voices to mimic the characters in the books.  Bette was an avid reader and loved doing crossword puzzles. Everyone loved her quick wit and her sense of humor.  She will be forever loved and greatly missed.

Bette is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Lowe and Virta Vickers Lowe, husband, Alfred Lamar Evans, her infant son, Alfred Lamar Evans, Jr., daughter, Deborah Dana Hilliard, son, Michael McKinney, brother, Jimmy Lowe, Sr., and her sisters, Helen Lowe Webb and Elma Rhee Lowe.

She is survived by five daughters, Donna (Jay) Booth, of Henrico, VA, Denise (Michael) Booker, of The Woodlands, TX, Charlotte (Bo) Wilkinson of Semmes, AL, Lisa Evans of Cullman, AL, and Michele Hart, Mobile, AL; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Janis Lowe; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A celebration of life service will be at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road in Daphne, Alabama, on Friday, June 24, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 3:00 p.m.
