November 3, 1926 – February 16, 2008 In Loving Memory.
Bettie Marie Howard was welcomed into “Our Lord’s Arms” on Saturday, February 16th, 2008. It was a very quiet and peaceful passing in Fairhope, with family and caregivers who loved her dearly. Bettie lived a long and prosperous life, born November 3rd, 1926 in Mullan, Id. She lived and traveled all over the United States and in Europe with her husband and children. Her giving heart touched many throughout the years. She deeply loved her family and friends and we all felt it daily. A member of Montrose Baptist Church, she served as Mayor in Montrose, Ga. until a stroke changed her life, but she never stopped loving, giving, sharing, and smiling. In the 70’s she worked at the hospital in Macon, Ga. assisting in labor and delivery. Throughout her life she was volunteering and always planning something to reach out to those she knew and those she did not know. Bettie was preceded to Our Lord by her husband Jimmie Lee and son Ricky. Her surviving daughters are Suzanne (Micheal) Bracher of Tacoma, WA and Karen (Ab) Abercrombie of Fairhope, AL and her son David (Stephanie) Howard of Birmingham, AL. Six grandchildren; Shauna, Jessica, Michele, Ben, Christina, and Sarah. And six great-grandchildren; Maddie, Lanna, Abbie, Luke, Emma, and soon to be born Hayden.
Services will be held at Montrose Baptist Church, in Montrose, Georgia on Saturday, March 29th, 2008 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers you may send a love offering to Montrose Baptist Church for their ministry and for the love they shared with our beloved Bettie, better known as “Runt”. We love you and will miss you dearly, until we meet again.
