Betty Jean Schulte, age 70 and a resident of Fairhope for 22 years, died Wednesday, September 10, 2008 in Fairhope.

Mrs. Schulte was born in Vinegar Bend, AL and graduated from Leakesville High School, Leakesville, MS. She was the widow of slain Corp. Julius N. Schulte, Det., Mobile Police Department, where she was formerly employed and was retired as a clerk from the Weeks Bay Estuary and National Reserve.

A devoted mother and grandmother, she is survived by her daughter, Dawn (Michael) Bryars of Bay Minette, AL and her son, Michael N. Schulte of Fairhope. She has a sister, Ruth Presley of San Antonio, TX and two brothers, R. C. Lewis of Leakesville, MS and Bill Lewis of Chatom, AL and five grandchildren, Nora, Richard, Michael, Anne and Hannah.

A family memorial service will be held a later date.

The family suggests memorials be made to the Weeks Bay Estuary and National Reserve, Children
