Elizabeth Marie “Betty O’Brien”, 66, a native of Philadelphia, PA and resident of Daphne, AL, passed away on Thursday morning, November 19, 2020.
Betty was an active member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish in Philadelphia, Christ the King Catholic Church, and The Exceptional Foundation, in Daphne Al. Elizabeth was a joy to be around. She loved to help other people and was loved by all who met her.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, William J. O’Brien and Marguerite Santone O’Brien.
She is survived by her siblings, Margaret (Stephen) Szedlmayer of Daphne, AL; William P. O’Brien (David Hill) of Florida; Rosana Leonetti (Marc) of Delaware; niece, Michelle Szedlmayer (Jon Robbins) of Daphne and nephew, Jon Leonetti of Delaware.
A private service will be held at 7:00pm, Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Hughes Funeral Home. The service can be watched live by going to: https://webcast.funeralvue.com/events/viewer/41506
Interment will take place at Our Lady of Grace Cemetery in Langhorne, PA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The Exceptional Foundation of the Gulf Coast, 28788 N. Main Street, Daphne, AL 36526.

Betty will be greatly missed by her Red Hat Society members and her Christ the King Family. She was loved by all. God certainly got a great angel

So sorry to have read the loss of Betty. Betty was a kind, generous and loving person. She enjoyed visiting the teachers and children in Sacred Heart School. Betty has earned her wings. Thoughts and prayers are with her family. Rest peacefully.
Tucker will miss Betty especially when he’s able to go back to Exceptional Arts. There will be an empty place in the car. What a special lady and sweet soul she was! Mel, Tucker, Christina and I remember her birthday celebration several years ago- it was so much fun- and Betty was so pleased. We will remember with love the many moments and conversations through the years we were lucky enough to share with Betty. Her spirit and smile won’t be forgotten.
Betty’s friends in Philly love and will miss her forever! Not many purely good people walk this earth, but Betty was one and our lives are richer fir having had her in them.
I will really miss everything about her. Her smile, her love and her infectious spirit that couldn’t be matched. I will cherish all the artwork that she lovingly gave me. We couldn’t ask for a better Angel to watch over all of us. Love, peace and strength to all of her family.

Betty had a heart of gold. She loved the children of Sacred Heart. She always helped to celebrate with each First Communion class. The children were blessed to know such beautiful person. I know she has a special place in heaven. My condolences to her family.
Such a great lady. Have so many good memories of her at both sacred heart of Jesus school and church. She always treated our kids as if they were her own and always made them feel that way. I know that your at peace.
Betty was an amazing woman and her love and energy will forever be with people. I haven’t seen her in years and was a kid when I was able to meet her but have so many memorable moments. She would take lead during my camp days to sing music and loved to sing This Little Light of Mine with the hand motions. The first time I ever remember seeing her sad is when my grandpa’s store collapsed and he passed but she was still so caring and nurturing. Olwe walked to Friendly’s after camp one day and laughed the entire time! Betty left everlasting memories with me, ones that will stay forever!
Dear, Sweet Betty shared with me our Ministry to folks in Memory Care and Assisted Living facilities in Baldwin and Mobile counties in Alabama. She also served each Sunday in leading our Children’s liturgy on Sundays at Christ the King. We loved her and she loved everyone; each person she treated as her best friend. Sandy and I send our love and prayers to Margie and all in Betty’s family and to all the thousands who mourn Betty’s death. She is with our Lord, who truly has always been and will always be her eternal best friend.
Her hugs and her gifts of artwork are things I will always remember from our Silver Sneakers class at the Y. She was such a joy to know.

Betty always had a hug for me at our Silver Sneakers class at the Y. She oftentimes blessed me with a gift of her creations. I don’t think I’ve ever met a more loving soul. My sympathies to Margie and the other family members.

Betty was known and loved by all at Christ the King Church in Daphne, and she was a loving, indeed exceptional, person who always cared for the children. Her wonderful smile will always be remembered. May she rest in peace.

Betty was a social butterfly at Christ The King Catholic Church. She could be seen passing out samples of her artwork or her cookies or just visiting almost every Sunday morning. She especially loved the children. She was a free spirit full of love for everybody. Her creativity went beyond her art and cookies since she also performed in plays. She was very playful and had a good time. One of her jokes was a claim that so-and-so was “picking on her.” And she loved hugs! A delightful and joyful person, Betty will be missed by many, many people. God Bless all who loved her.
I recently met Betty through Diana Stankiewicz. Diana mentioned Betty was lonely. I offered to call Betty and as a result, we became friends. She was a sweet, kind soul and I am going to miss her. I will continue to pray for her and her family.
I recently became friends with Betty through Diana Stankiewicz. She mentioned Betty was in rehab and could use I some cheer. I offered to call her. This was the beginning of a special friendship. Although the friendship was short, Betty was special to me. We spoke almost daily and in every conversation, Betty made me smile. She was an exceptional lady and I will miss her.

I knew & loved Betty from Silver Sneakers class at the Daphne YMCA. I am pleased to have bookmarks, art work & a very special ceramic horse named Sparkles which she gave me on my birthday two years at a silver sneakers birthday lunch.
