Tribute

Bryant Harvey Simmons, age 48, a native of Mobile, AL and resident of Daphne, AL, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019.  Bryant was a 1988 graduate of Baker High School and a 1995 graduate of the University of Mobile.  He was Assistant Director of Marketing and Sales for Pine Belt Wireless, and the entirety of his career was spent in wireless communications. Bryant loved and followed The University of Alabama Crimson Tide, the Million Dollar Band, and the Boston Celtics. He was a fierce competitor and coached youth sports for seven years in Daphne. Bryant was strong and steady, witty, and full of sarcasm. He was guarded and his circle was small. He understood the importance of a good playlist, the art of left handed dribbling, and considered himself a Twitter aficionado. Bryant adored his children above all, and spent his life providing for them and supporting them in their every pursuit and dream. The pride of his life will continue to march in the Million Dollar Band and wear his name on the backs of their jerseys on the courts at UMS Wright.  He leaves behind a wife that has loved him for better or worse, when rich and when poor, in sickness and in health, and will love him always.  He is preceded in death by his father, Burton Lee Simmons, paternal grandparents, Beulah Monk Simmons and Henry Cecil Simmons and his maternal grandparents, Bernice Kenopke Jernigan and Thomas Jefferson Jernigan, Jr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Leslie Pritchard Simmons; Daughters, Anne-Graham and Georgia Burton and Son, John Bridges, all of Daphne; His mother, Bernice Rubley, Mobile, AL; Father in law and mother in law, John and Darnell Pritchard, Gilbertown, AL; Brother in law and sister in law, Blake and Amy Pritchard, Niece Mary Blake, Pritchard and Nephew, John Ellis Pritchard, II all of Satsuma, AL and countless friends.

Funeral services will be held at at 3:00 pm, Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Jubilee Baptist Church, 9264 Pleasant Rd. in Daphne.  The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 2:00 pm. Graveside services will follow in Daphne Baptist Cemetery on Old County Road in Daphne.  Officiating will be Dr. Paul Matthews.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Men’s Basketball Program at UMS Wright Preparatory School, 65 Mobile Street, Mobile, AL 36607.  Expressions of condolence may be offered at www.hughesfh.com.  Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home, Daphne, AL, 36526.

Bryant will surely be missed by so many…he touched so many kids during his coaching days of youth sports in Daphne…such a solid individual who was a model father and husband…his morals and character were solid and he truly lived a life Jesus is very proud of, and believe his spirit will be watching over his wife and children forever.
Being able to call him a friend was very rewarding…thank you for that time Bryant.
