Buford “Boo” Courtney Foster Sr, age 77, and a lifelong resident of Fairhope, died suddenly Wednesday, February 19, 2020, at a local hospital. Boo was born March 2, 1942, in Mobile.
Boo enjoyed his retired years as a Farmer with the good people with Allegri Farms in Daphne. Prior to retirement, Boo spent 40 years working with Bancroft Engraving, in Mobile, as a Photo Engraver, and made many of the iconic signs throughout Baldwin and Mobile Counties to include the well-known “Welcome to Fairhope” sign, which can be seen on Hwy 98 at the split. Boo was also a Merchant Marine. Boo enjoyed life with his loving wife of 32 years, Sandi, as well as spending time at his family’s hunting club “Buck Naked” in Bladen Springs, growing up in Daphne on Mobile Bay with many fishing adventures and playing ball in the local men’s league. Boo was even granted a try-out with a pro baseball team.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Thelma Foster, Brothers, Buddy Foster, Stewart Foster, Hughie Foster, Butchie Foster, and Sisters, Audrey Holladay, Shirley Bertagnolli and Patsy Box.
Boo is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Foster, of Fairhope, Sons, Buford C. Foster, Jr. (Diane) of Elberta, Ryan S. Foster (Megan) of Daphne, Daughters, Cindy Uplinger of Loxley, Debbie Barker (Adam) of Blue Springs, Missouri, Jenni Cloninger (Andy) of Daphne.
Grandchildren, Michelle Foster of Bon Secour, Embry Miller II of Elberta, Andrew Rebain of Foley, Adam Rebain of Loxley, Cassie Rebain of Loxley, Kaylee Cloninger of Daphne, Drew Cloninger of Daphne, Damien Barnes of Daphne, Madison Barker of Missouri, Sam Cloninger of Daphne, Aidan Barker of Missouri, Reed Cloninger of Daphne, Jase Barker of Missouri and Trista Foster of Daphne.
He is also survived by 6 Great-Grandchildren, Colton Sullivan, Elizabeth Drinkard; Gracie Miller, Aaron Drinkard, Alyssia Rebain and Laila Miller, along with numerous nieces, nephews and many other family and friends.
There will be a friends and family social on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at Hughes Funeral Home located at 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne. The family requests that this be a casual come and go to share love, memories and laughter of Boo. There will be a brief celebration in music by Boo’s son-in-law, Andy Cloninger, at the closing of the gathering.
