Carol Doris Stevenson Turner of Spanish Fort, passed away Wednesday night, December 21, 2016 at home with her loving family by her side.  She served her community in many ways, from owning her own business to her success for many years in real estate.  Carol was a lady of tremendous faith.  She loved and served her Lord and always looked to Him as the source of her joy and strength.  She was an active member of CityHope Church and always looked forward to Sundays!  For Carol, it was her mission to let anyone she encountered, in whatever environment, to share Jesus’ love with words or expressions of encouragement.  Everyone had value in her eyes and felt better and more important after being with her.  Her family was her heart and all her grandkids loved hanging with their Nana!  She is preceded in death by her brother, Homer Stevenson and her sisters, Wilma Mitchell and Marigayle Cooper.

Surviving are her daughters, Krista Brady Lippold and Melanie Brady (Michael) Waters all of Spanish Fort; sisters, Lucille Rayborn, Picayune, MS, Jackie (Rudy) Dugas and Linda Sue Kirkland, both of Bogalusa, LA.  Also surviving are her beloved grandchildren, Alex Waters, Spanish Fort, Geoffrey Waters, Los Angeles, CA and Zachary and Carolyn Grace Lippold, both of Spanish Fort and many other nieces, nephews, relative and friends.

Carol wanted no grieving but for all to celebrate her life as she is now enjoying being in the presence of her Lord.

In keeping with her wishes, her family welcomes you to her Celebration Service at 1:00pm, Friday, December 30, 2016 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 8271 Whispering Pines Rd. in Daphne.  Officiating will be Pastor Jerry Taylor, Pastor Jerry Hewitt, and Pastor Jonathan Spuler all of CityHope Church.  The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 11:00am and invite all to share a bowl of gumbo, desserts and Carol’s birthday cake until the time of service.

Carol loved so many and always helped others wherever and whenever she could.  The family asks that in lieu of flowers, that you would please sow into the life of someone in need and to please share with them your good deed with a note or a card at:  The Family of Carol Turner, P.O. Box 7747, Spanish Fort, AL  36577.  Expressions of condolence maybe offered at www.hughesfh.com.  Arrangements are by Hughes Funeral Home & Crematory, 7951 American Way, Daphne, AL  36526.

Carol was such a beautiful person and friend. She will be missed by many but as has been said She celebrated her birthday with Jesus whom she had known for years and probably danced with Him on the streets of Heaven! She is fine, its the people left who grieve.

Sorry to hear of your loss. Our prayers and condolences are with the family. We knew Carol as a hard-working Realtor who diligently tried for a year to sell our house back in the 90’s. She wasn’t able to sell our house, but God had other plans for us which included staying in Spanish Fort. We are thankful for the opportunity to have met Carol.

I was driving thru Lake Forest several years ago and stumbled across a “for rent by owner” sign that made my life a lot richer.

I called that number, and just a few hours later, I was meeting with one of the sweetest, caring people I’d ever met. For me, every time I spent time with Carol, whether it was discussing the condo or simply a random talk about life, I came away feeling like she was a great reminder and example of the never ending love of Jesus. Thank God for his direction during what I thought was just random, meaningless drive thru a neighborhood.

My prayers are with her family who I know will miss her terribly. My prayers are also thanking God that I had the privilege of knowing this sweet woman.

I have so many fond memories of Carol picking up the girls from Girl Scouts, play dates, swim lessons, and sleepovers. She really did devote herself entirely to God, her family, and friends. We love and miss you Carol!

    Dear Krista, Melanie and family,

Carol was such a loving and giving person and we are so glad, that in meeting you both, we were able to get to know Carolyn Grace’s “Nana”. She always made us feel so welcome and like we were a part of the family when Maggie and Carolyn Grace were together.
We will always have our special memories of Carol, caring for the girls, bringing food when we were sick and reminding us of God’s love, in everything she did. Thank you for sharing your Nana with us for a little while. We are blessed for having known her. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

    Love,
    Susie , Bob and Maggie

We were blessed to be a part of Carol’s extended family. Knowing her over the years has been a joy. She was always kind, compassionate, considerate and a peace-maker in all circumstances, finding the good in everyone and every situation. Sharing her faith and relying on it daily was her strength. She was a loving mother to Krista and Melanie and a devoted grandmother to my niece and nephew, Carolyn Grace and Zachary. She had a special bond with them and they loved her dearly. She will be missed, but her spirit lives on in her family. The words she spoke to them and the lessons she taught provide encouragement. They also motivate and calm. She was a dear person and lady and we are thankful to call her friend. Love you Carol. You are an example of grace, humility and love.
    Sylvia
