Mrs. Carol Ann Saltz, longtime resident of Fairhope, passed away on Thursday, March 10, 2022 at the age of 75.
Carol was the daughter of William “Whit” and Mary Jo Whitman. She was also the eldest of four daughters. Carol was born in Reno, Nevada, but then moved to Enterprise, Alabama. After her childhood, Carol moved to Fairhope where she soon met her late husband, Leon Saltz. The two grew a business, a business many parents and grandparents know well, Eastern Shore Early Childhood Center, which was Carol’s everyday life. She watched most of Fairhope’s children gain maturity and knowledge from her wonderful staff, and even through her own hands, as she was the facilities owner, director, and kindergarten and first grade teacher.
Carol also played a huge role in the community alongside her efforts in the childcare industry. Carol devoted her Sundays and Wednesdays to the Trinity Presbyterian Church, where she taught Sunday school and youth groups. She was also on the board of the Fairhope Single Tax, which has constructed some of Fairhope’s greatest landmarks and legacies. Her efforts in this community will be greatly remembered for generations to come by far and many. We love you Mrs. Carol.
Carol Saltz is survived by her son, Tatum Saltz; and her grandson, Hayden Saltz.
