Tribute

On August 31, 2022, Carolyn Amick passed away at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope, Alabama. She was born on March 14, 1943, in Cullman County, Alabama to Opaline and Carvee Amick.

Carolyn attended West End High School and went on to study Art at UAB. Early on, she worked as a TV Morning personality. For most of her life, Carolyn was self-employed in many facets of creative design.

She was a mother, a wife, an artist, world traveler, confidant and friend.

She was an adventurous and competitive spirit who enjoyed motocross, fast cars, scuba diving, painting, sculpting, and spending time with her family.

Carolyn always looked at life with a positive outlook. Despite facing adversity, she beat the odds over and over again.

Preceded in death by her father, Carvee Amick, her mother, Opaline Amick, first husband, Jim Poe, and her second husband, Sam Hatfield.

She is survived by her life partner, Paul Ripp; daughter, Mariah (Alejandro Guadarrama); two grandchildren, Ezra and Clover; sisters, Jo Alley (Lawrence Lee Alley), and Jan Meeks (Greg Meeks); brothers, Larry Amick (Sandy Amick) and Ricky Edwards; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022, from 2-4PM at her home in Fairhope, Alabama. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to Smile Train, St. Jude’s, or American Cancer Society.
