Cecil L. McMillan, a native of Bay Minette, Alabama and a longtime resident of Montgomery, Alabama, followed by long-term care at the William F. Green Veterans Home in Bay Minette, died on Saturday, November 15, 2025. 

McMillan was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Myrtle McMillan;, brothers, Virgil McMillan, Thomas McMillan, Billy McMillan; and sisters, Julia Weaver, Myrtle Louse Stamps Carolyn Noonan and Kathryn Ryan.

He is survived by his brother, Laurie McMillan; sister, Anne Glover; and a host of nieces and nephews. 

McMillan graduated from Baldwin County High School, attended the University of Alabama and graduated from Michigan State University’s School of Hospitality Management. Cecil also served in the United States Army during the Korean War. 

Culinary Management was Cecil’s first love, and it led to a long career in the field working in restaurant management positions in Cape Cod, Callaway Gardens, Georgia Baptist Hospital and eventually purchasing the storied Blue Moon Inn in Montgomery, Alabama, which he owned and operated up until 1979.

After retiring from active restaurant management, McMillan authored a beloved cookbook, “The Once In A Blue Moon Inn” which was sold over multiple printings across the Southeast. 

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2PM on Friday, November 21, 2025, at the Bay Minette Cemetery, 433996 Nicholsville Road, Bay Minette, AL.
