Charles “Ed” Thomas

Charles Edgar “Ed” Thomas, a native of New York City and a resident of Spanish Fort, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, just two days after his 79th birthday. 

Ed served in the U.S Coast Guard.  He retired from Bell South as a program manager.  He was a devoted member of City Hope Church and enjoyed serving as a greeter. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and doing home repairs.  He was an avid reader, loved cars, and enjoyed carpooling his grandkids to various activities.  He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. 

Ed is preceded in death by his parents, June Helen Thomas and Charles Emmanuel Thomas, and his sister Diane June Willard.  He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Dolores D. Thomas; children Chase (Holly) Thomas of Riverside, AL, Lance (Stephanie) Thomas of Spanish Fort, AL, and Kimberly (Jeffrey) Consedine of Springfield, MD; eight grandchildren, Hadley Erin Thomas, Knox Thomas, Kayleigh Thomas, Nash Thomas, Cross Thomas, Hux Thomas, Matthew Cosedine, and Colin Cosedine; one sister, Judith Lynne Strawser; one uncle, Eric (Thelma) Williams; along with numerous friends and family members. 

A service to celebrate Ed’s life will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, at 5:00PM.  The family will receive friends and family for a time of visitation before the service to begin at 4:00PM. Interment will take place in Birmingham, AL at a later date.

    I will miss talking to you but know you are with Mom,Dad and Diane. That gives me comfort but know you are once again healthy and with our family .I love you my big brother .
