Charles Fred Powell, age 88, of Bay Minette, Alabama, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026.  Born on April 7, 1938, Fred was a lifelong resident of the community he loved and proudly called home.

Fred was the son of the late Brady Lawson Powell and Elma Louise Powell. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and carried that same spirit of loyalty and dedication throughout his life. He was a devoted family man who loved spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Frankie Powell.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Maria and Bernard Strickland, Regina and Byron Beck, Jeanean and Kevin Peacock, Brad Powell; and stepdaughter, Donna Ganey. He also leaves behind his cherished grandchildren, Christa Parrish, Ryan Burgess, Dustin Beck, Samantha Beck, Emily Beck, Steven Brown, Alaina Jo Christie, Brady Powell, and Dawson Gainey. Fred was also blessed with fourteen great-grandchildren, Dylan, Kaylee, Karlee, Kylee, Macy, Riley, Katie, Buffalo, Webb, Tillie, Ella, William, Lilah Jean, and Halli Jo.

Fred was well known for his love of Alabama football and his unwavering devotion to the Crimson Tide. On any football weekend, family and friends could count on hearing him proudly say, “Roll Tide, baby, Roll Tide!” He was also a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams throughout the years.

Above all, Fred knew and loved the Lord with all his heart. He carried a strong faith throughout his life and believed that when he left this earth, he would be reunited in Heaven with the loved ones who had gone before him.

Fred will be remembered for his warm heart, his love for family, his strong spirit, and the many memories he created with those who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by his family and friends.
