In Loving Memory

Christine M. Dudley

November 8, 1943 - March 16, 2024

Tribute

Christine Margaret Dudley, of Fairhope, AL, passed away peacefully at home on March 16, 2024. She fought a short but intense battle with Mesothelioma that took her life at the age of 80. Her family is profoundly saddened.

Christine was born on November 8, 1943, to the late Hubert and Emma Sykes in Crossland Moor, England, and has two siblings, Rodney and Pamela. She attended Huddersfield Technical College and studied Home Economics.

Christine married her beloved husband, Philip William Dudley, on July 2, 1966. Christine and Philip and their three daughters (Karen, Kathryn, and Kay) immigrated to Atlanta, Georgia in 1980 before moving to Fairhope, Alabama in 2013.

Christine was an exemplary wife, mother, grandmother, and loving soul. She embodied the best of qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and an unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her husband, children, (including Bart, her son-in-law), her grandchildren, Trevor, Kristin, Caleb, and William, entire family and countless others.

Christine previously worked for over 20 years as an Accounting Assistant at Repro Products in Atlanta. Christine was warm and vibrant, and accepted everyone with an open heart, open arms, and a perpetual smile.  Christine was adventurous, and she and her husband loved to travel and have experienced many new cities and countries together. Christine was also an avid gardener and loved plants.

Her departure is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply in her wide network of community in Fairhope. The family deeply appreciates your support during this difficult time.  The family asks that you make contributions to Shepherd’s Place Respite (shepherdsplacerespite.com) in Fairhope, Alabama, in lieu of flowers.

A celebration of life service for Christine will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 10:30AM at Shepherd’s Place Respite located in Fairhope United Methodist Church at 155 Section Street, Fairhope, AL 36532.

Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.

Chris was a very special lady and I am grateful for having her as a Friend. Her guidance when our children were small was invaluable. Her love and pride for Phil, Karen, Kathy and Kay was a joy to see. Chris seemed to have endless energy, be it taking care of her Family, her home and her plants. She made everything special. She will be missed.

I have been out of town and just got the message about Christine. I’m shocked and deeply saddened to hear this news. I’ve been doing water aerobics with her for years! She always cheered me up when I was down. We are the same age. Though we were born an ocean apart, we shared so very much in common. I loved and admired her so very much. My deepest condolences to her precious family. She loved each of you unconditionally. May you find comfort in beautiful memories. May God grant you peace.

So sad to hear of Christine’s passing. I will miss seeing her friendly smile and happy participation in water aerobics class, especially her idea to include the “mullet” splash!

One of the greatest blessings of serving at Shepherds Place is getting to know the families and sharing in the compassion they have for their loved one. Christine’s kind heart and sweet presence will be sorely missed but we will always remember that sparkle in Phil’s eyes when he realized his lovey was there.

Ms Dudley was my childhood second Momma! There was always a beautiful smile on her face and cheery word spoken. She was always a breath of fresh air when we were together. Her beautiful spirit lives on in her 3 daughters and grandchildren. 🤍
