Clifton Rule Jones, Sr., age 79, a native of Pine Bluff, Arkansas and a resident of Foley, Alabama, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2019.
Clifton received his Doctorate of Music from Ole Miss. After touring with Bob Hope’s USO Tours, he taught music at middle and high school, as well as college levels. After retirement, he served as choir director at First Methodist Church in Bryant, Arkansas. Upon moving to Alabama, he taught private lessons until shortly before his death.
Clifton is preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Dorothy Jones; two brothers, Harrell (his identical twin) and Clayton Jones.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Jones; his children, Clifton Rule Jones, Jr. of Orange Beach, AL and Michael Dale Jones of Foley, AL; grandson, Tristin Tanner Jones, who is a Marine stationed at Persidio of Monterey, CA; brother, David (Rita) Jones of Peoria, AZ; as well as other family members and friends.
There was a celebration of his life held at St. Andrew by the Sea Community Church, 17263 Fort Morgan Road, Gulf Shores, AL, on Wednesday, September 4, 2019 at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his memory to The Building Fund of St. Andrew by the Sea Church, 17263 Fort Morgan Road, Gulf Shores, AL 36542.
