Dale Patrick Welch, devoted husband and father, passed away in Fairhope, Alabama, on July 24, 2025. He was 76 years old.
Dale was born October 24, 1948, to William and Mary E. Welch. After graduating high school and attending barber school, he entered the United States Marine Corps where he served until 1971. He moved to Memphis, Tennessee with his parents and started his career at Memphis Light Gas Water Division, where he worked for 36 years. Dale and his wife, Suzette, moved to Daphne, Alabama in 2015.
Dale will be remembered for his love of family, LSU sports, humor, gardening, restoring cars and the outdoors. He was a generous and loving man with many friends and loved ones. Dale attended Shrine of the Holy Cross Catholic Church in Daphne, Alabama.
Dale is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary E. Welch; his brother, Bill Welch; and stepson, Dee Bowling.
He is survived by his wife, Suzette Welch; one son, Gregory Welch of Oakland, Tennessee; brother, Kim Welch (Cissy) of Memphis, Tennessee; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Friday, August 1, 2025, at 11AM at the Shrine of the Holy Cross Catholic Church, 612 Main Street in Daphne, Alabama.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a charity that meant a lot to Dale at https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude
Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.
Dale was a friend to us who soon became family. He will be greatly missed. We sure did love him and will cherish our memories.
We loved Dale very much and enjoyed his friendship and kindness. We will miss visiting with him and sharing much laughter.
Dale was a wonderful neighbor, who always helped others anyway he could. And a huge LSU fan! Geaux Tigers!! He will be missed.

Dale was a sweet, thoughtful man always helping others. He spread love, kindness and humor to all of those who knew him. Loved his family and friends. We cherished knowing him and will truly miss him. Prayers for Suzette and those whose hearts are broken.
I met Dale when I was 20 years old. That was 48 years ago. We spent half our lives together working for the same company along with his wife Suzette. I will always love them both with all of my being. He was a wonderful friend ! May God keep you
Dale was a good friend and all-around great guy. I always enjoyed working with him and Suzette at MLGW Hickory Hill. I’ll always remember Dale’s laugh and sense of humor. He will surely be missed.

I moved next to Dale and Suzette as a single dad with his daughter and his lab. My family was an hour away and Dale and Suzette quickly became like grandparents. The love and friendship they showed were directly from God at the time we needed it the most. I think my lab fell more in love with Dale than even me. And my daughter loved them just as much. Years past and that relations grew. From birthdays, holidays, and everything from me needing dales advice to just talking about his yard and passions. Dale and Suzette were always there. Soon, I married and my wife fell just as in love with them both. Never have we had neighbors that were truly family like them. Dale, you will be so missed. Thank you for being such a great friend and loving on me and my family for long. You are so loved.
Dale was a good friend. We worked together at Memphis Light Gas. And. Water 28 years. We hunted many years together thru the yrs.. and he was always telling jokes that us and others got a kick out of. Willl miss him . He was fun to be around. Praying for the family. Tiim & Patrica Poe
