Byron Daniel “Dan” Merrill, 73, of Daphne, AL died on March 5, 2014. He was born on Sept. 15, 1940. He grew up in Dozier, AL, a town he loved all his life. He was a 1958 graduate of Dozier High School. He served four years in the Marine Corps. He was a graduate of Livingston State University, class of 1966. He worked in management with Delta Air Lines until his retirement for 26 years. He worked at many Delta offices all over the U.S. and also in Dublin, Ireland. After retirement from Delta Air Lines, he owned and operated Gulfview Travel Agency in Orange Beach, AL. His final retirement move was to Daphne, Alabama. Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Byron E. and Mary L. Merrill.

Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Patricia Brown Merrill; two daughters, Dana Merrill of Ocean Springs, MS and Amy Merrill of Daphne; grandchildren, Michael Warbritton, Ashley Warbritton, Erin Haught, Danny Haught; three great‐grandchildren; sister, Diane (Gary) Harris of Dozier; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and many cousins. Following his cremation, a Celebration of Life service will be held on March 15, 2014 , 11 a.m., at the United Methodist Church of Dozier.
