David “Woody” Achille Woodruff, Sr., a native of Mobile and a resident of Daphne, AL, passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at the age of 57.

When he was younger David enjoyed scouting, exploring Dog River and fishing. He was a graduate of BC Rain High School, where he played football. His love of the water led him to a career as a tugboat captain, but he was the happiest when he was on the water with friends or working on his old Corvette.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Eugenia “Billie” Lorge Woodruff.  David is survived by his wife, Gwen Lane Woodruff; children, David (Ashley) Woodruff, Maggie Woodruff, and Darren Woodruff, all of Shasta Lake, CA; his father, David G. Woodruff of Daphne, AL; sister, Alice (Tim) Greenlay of Daphne, AL; niece, Nika (Michael) Greenlay of Mobile, AL; nephew, Yuriy Greenlay of Daphne, AL; and special friends, Kerrie Edwards, Mike Brooks, David Pilgrim, Scottie McLain, Stevie Scoggin, Greg Adams and many, many more.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 18, 2022, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 711 College Avenue in Daphne, AL, at 11:00 AM.  There will be a time of visitation prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow at Belforest Catholic Cemetery.   Pallbearers will be: Steven Scoggin, Mike Brooks, Scott McLain, Roger Shell, Kendall Jimerson, Greg Adams, Ron Woodruff, Billy Bullock, David A. Woodruff, Jr., Yuriy Greenlay, Tim Greenlay, Jonathan Woodruff, Dale Woodruff and David G. Woodruff.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to Catholic Social Services 23010 SR-59, Robertsdale, AL 36567, or online at Catholicsocialservices.org  (251)947-2293.

    Woody my friend I will miss you I enjoyed all the talks that we always had I will miss Sharing crawfish with you and thank you for being such a good friend to my husband Scotty like Scott always said you were his brother from another mother we’re going to miss you but we will see you again one day until then rest easy my friend we love you Woody Scotty and Debbie mclain
