Deborah Leola Gallas, 66, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at USA Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Mobile, AL. Her parents, Donald Edward Newby and Lillie Audrey (Gibson), joyfully welcomed her into the world on July 12, 1954. As a child in a military family, she lived in many states during her schooling years, which culminated as a graduate of St. Patrick’s Academy, in Washington DC, in 1972. Shortly thereafter, she met Ervin J. Gallas Jr., her husband of 45 years.
Throughout her career, she worked as a nursing assistant, secretary, administrative assistant, financial analyst and then in the mortgage industry for many years in Albuquerque, NM and Pascagoula, MS. She enjoyed photography, trips to the beach, line dancing and writing. Anyone that knew her knows that she loved her dogs, and she was involved with Springer Spaniel rescue, which was near and dear to her heart for many years. She was a long-time member of Parkview Nazarene Church in Mobile, AL. where she had many close friends. Most of all she enjoyed making other people happy. She was a loving and generous soul that went out of her way to put smiles on the faces of the people she loved, or someone she just met. Her family adored her and will miss her tremendously.
She is survived by her husband, Ervin J. Gallas Jr.; daughter, Audrey Gallas; grandsons, Justin Anaya, Lance Langowski, Mathias Anaya, Jade Anaya, and Crystal Anaya; daughter-in-law, Christina Renee; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by parents, Donald and Lillie Newby; brother, Donald Newby Jr.; sister Billie Elaine Newby and her beloved Son, E.J Gallas, III.
A memorial service will be announced at a later date, this will be an open house at the Gallas residence.
