Dr. James Francis Suess, III, was born on August 8, 1950, to Dr. James F. Suess, Jr. and Rae Miller Suess in Evanston, Illinois, passed away on March 27, 2018.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Powell Suess; daughter, Misty (Tyler); grandchildren, Nicholas, Adaline, Aleczander and Andrew; and a host of relatives and friends.

In his younger days, he enjoyed both coaching and playing softball, as well as baseball, football, and golf.  He also loved riding motorcycles with his wife. He had a love of music, both listening and playing the drums and piano.  He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army.  Dr. Suess earned his Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of Southern Mississippi in 1974; his Master of Science degree in 1978 and received his PhD in 1982.  In 1982, he became a licensed psychologist in the state of Alabama and New York.  He served as a diplomat of the American Board of Professional Psychology, the American Board of Medical Psychotherapists, Professional Association Custody Evaluators, American Collation of Forensic Examiners, American Board of Forensic Medicine and Association of psychologist for the State of Mississippi. Professional Associates Psychologist State of Mississippi from 1978 – 1980.  He was the clinical director at Stickney Adolescent Center in Mobile from 1993 – 1997; an adjunct professor with the Department of Psychology at the University of South Alabama, and clinical director at the McCullough Institute. 

Among his many accolades and awards, he was a member of the Council for the National Registry of Health Service Providers in Psychology.  He also received a National Leadership Award from the National Republican Congressional Committee, he was a fellow in the Society for Personality Assessment, Inc., and the Academy of Clinical Psychology.  He served as a diplomate as a Board Certified Forensic Examiner for the American Board of Forensic Examiners, also serving as a Diplomat of the American Board of Forensic Medicine. Dr. Suess was a lifetime member of the American Legion and a lifetime member APA of the American Board of Forensic Exam, and President of the Alabama License Psychologist, and the President of the Mobile Association of Psychologist.
