Earl “Buddy” Rodgers

October 28, 1934 - December 18, 2023


Earl Christopher “Buddy” Rodgers, age 89, a native of Belforest, AL and lifelong resident of Spanish Fort, AL, went to be with the Lord on Monday, December 18, 2023, with family at his side. 

Buddy was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War.  Most of his career was spent as a truck driver working for Trailway Oil Company in Fairhope in the 1960s and retiring from Miller Transporters Trucking Company in 1990, receiving an award for The Million Mile Club being accident free.

Buddy loved his family. He enjoyed watching Alabama football, hunting, fishing, shrimping, tractors, and being outdoors. He enjoyed his trips to Upstate New York to visit his daughter and her family.

He is predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Norma Ann Cumbie Rodgers, his mother, Glenda Jackson Rolando, and stepfather, Anthony “Tony” Rolando.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Valerie (Keith) Rosplock of Elmira, NY; son, Joel C. Rodgers of Spanish Fort, AL; grandson, Tyler B. Rosplock of Elmira, NY; sisters, Julia Lazzari of Belforest, AL, Mary (Jerry) Priemer of Snellville, GA, Brenda Raines of Loxley, AL, along with many special nieces and nephews, special friends at First Baptist Church of Spanish Fort, and the loving caregivers of Gentiva Hospice and Synergy Home Care.  

The family wishes to give special thanks to his nurses and caregivers Beverly, Cynthia, Danielle, Earline, Kelly, Laura, Megan and Mercedes.  

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in his name to Gentiva Hospice.  Please make check or money order out to Gentiva Foundation and mail to 805 Millwood Circle, Suite D, Daphne, AL 36526.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, at Hughes Funeral Home, 26209 Pollard Road, Daphne, AL, at 11AM.  There will be a time of visitation before the service to begin at 10AM.  Interment will follow at Memory Gardens of Fairhope.

Expressions of condolences for the family may be made at Hughes Funeral Home, Daphne, AL, is assisting the family.
